North Carolina State Coordinator

Position Summary:
The State Coordinator (SC) will be responsible for leading SisterSong’s state-based advocacy efforts. The SC will employ organizing and media skills with policy and advocacy experience to help promote the reproductive justice framework throughout the state with grassroots communities as well as other movements. The SC will also coordinate work specific to religious exemptions in the state. The SC is a key organizational representative, among those who represent SisterSong before the press, our membership, and the public.
Essential Duties:
Planning, development, and implementation of new programs.
Develop and implement base-building plan for the assigned, homebased state.
Develop an understanding of existing RJ organizations and relationships across the state to foster and maintain partnerships.
Attend state roundtables, events, convenings, and meetings to mobilize communities.
Identify, coordinate, and support, the organizing needs of marginalized groups.
Build relationships with leadership of social justice organizations
Facilitate RJ and other trainings in the state. Partner with Reproductive Justice, Reproductive Health and Reproductive Rights organizations to bring programing into the state.
Track policy and legislation to inform programmatic work and organizing.
Speaking engagements (speeches, panels, presentations) on SisterSong’s behalf across the state.
Creation of program promotion materials – including submission of orders for graphic design, and event materials
Host conference calls with planning committees and state partners.
Organizational reporting – including event reports, expense reports, monthly and quarterly programming reports.
Attend of interest conferences and convenings on behalf of SisterSong.
Create evaluations for programming to be used for development.
Collaborate with staff for cross departmental programming and organizing.
Assist in the planning and implementation of organizational programming and convenings.
Ongoing grassroots fundraising support.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, political Science or similar, preferred but not required.
Three to five years of experience in community outreach, social work required. (Bachelor’s degree in lieu of experience and/or combination will be considered)

Youth Coordinator
Are you passionate about empowering young people and advocating for reproductive justice?
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Youth Coordinator to join our team and lead initiatives that amplify youth voices and drive positive change. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with young leaders, develop innovative programs, and collaborate with diverse communities to advance reproductive rights and justice.
The Youth Coordinator will work to bring young BIPOC people and especially trans voices and leadership to civic engagement efforts in Georgia and throughout SisterSong’s geographical regions. Our youth organizing work is meant to center a diverse range of BIPOC young people between the ages 18-25. The coordinator would prioritize amplifying the RJ framework across a range of social justice issues, with a goal to unify progressive movements and orient them to center the most oppressed. RJ includes all social justice issues, for all are necessary to maintain personal bodily autonomy, create families – if, when and how we desire - and parents with adequate resources in safe and sustainable communities. Young people are an important voice in the RJ movement and all movement spaces.
Essential Duties:
Develop and implement new youth programming.
Build a base nationally among youth organizers and youth focused organizations within the RJ movement and across movements and sectors.
Represent SisterSong on panel discussions and speaking engagements regarding youth centered RJ organizing.
Conduct regular outreach to build youth engagement and increase young member participation in programs, actions, and campaigns.
Create messaging and programming with State Coordinators targeting youth in GA, KY & NC.
Monitor and evaluate our youth-centered programs and initiatives to ensure quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement.
Work with Membership Coordinator to plan and lead youth member meetings, and coordinate youth membership participation in gatherings, programs, and initiatives.
Work with the membership coordinator to update youth contacts in our CRM.
Collaborate with state coordinators to build ongoing youth programming in their work.
Participate in panel discussions regarding youth center RJ organizing.
Provide regular work plans and reports to supervisor; attend staff meetings and staff retreats.
Manage an ongoing outreach plan for recruiting new youth members and conduct outreach at events and other locations.
Utilizing arts, culture, and media to build resources for and shift narratives about our communities.
Work with Membership Coordinator to plan and lead youth member meetings, and coordinate youth membership participation in gatherings, programs, and initiatives.
Develop and manage relationships with a broad base of partners, including but not limited to (community leaders, social justice organizations, school, legislators, faith-based institutions, local government agencies, social service agencies, providers, etc.), and build their support of our efforts and actions.
Plan and coordinate public forums, trainings, and meetings led by youth on behalf of SisterSong
Lead and participate in local, state, regional, and national meetings, and actions.
Minimum Qualifications:
2+years working with youth, ages 18-25.
One-plus years of professional experience, with a preference for experience in a non-profit setting, and/or school-based outreach and education programs, and/or working with LGBTQIA, marginalized youth and communities.
Advanced communication skills both verbal and written.
Self- starter, self-motivator, go getter mentality.
Excellent time management, decision making, critical thinking and organizational skills.
Leadership skills and patience.
Experience working independently and with a team is essential for this role.

Attention to cultural competence in all manner of RJ for marginalized and LGBTQIA youth, and community engagement.
